Pioneering New Fields

We invited 10 Olympique Lyonnais young super fans to a virtual STEM session featuring some of the world’s best players. Little did the fans know they would be receiving a Priceless Surprise – watch as the girls are given the inspiration of a lifetime.

Mastercard believes too much of our world was designed without women in mind – and without women involved and are leading the charge in reshaping the way our world is designed, coded and constructed by bringing diverse perspectives to the table. Growing passions and fostering connections is core to what Mastercard stands for. Through our partnership with Olympique Lyonnais Féminin, Mastercard is driving an initiative in football to encourage and enable young girls to succeed on and off the pitch. 

 

On April 19th, Mastercard’s football ambassadors – Ada Hegerberg, Kadeisha Buchanan, Saki Kumagai, and Wendie Renard hosted young girls from around the world to participate in a hands-on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) workshop through Mastercard’s Girls4Tech programme

 

Our goal?

 

Mastercard is committed to bringing together the two very different fields of football and technology! These four legendary female footballers will inspire and motivate young girls from Mastercard’s Girls4Tech programme.

 

5 years ago, Mastercard created Girls4Tech to inspire young girls to build STEM skills that will help them become leaders of tomorrow. With Mastercard employees serving as role models and mentors, we developed a signature STEM curriculum based on global science and maths standards that showcases Mastercard’s payments technology. This interactive, hands-on curriculum connects the foundations of Mastercard’s business to STEM principles and inspires girls across the globe to pursue a career in STEM.

 

Pioneering New Fields’ comes from a belief that we are ALL game changers. Both women in football and their counterparts in tech are forging new futures for themselves and paving the way for young girls everywhere. Together, Olympique Lyonnais Féminin and Girls4Tech will showcase how women can become true pioneers in their fields.

 

Mastercard has customised the Olympique Lyonnais Féminin players’ shirts for the Olympique Lyonnais (OL) Féminin vs FC Fleury match on 4th June, by putting the names of young fans on the players’ jerseys. These fans will also be invited to participate in an exciting virtual mascot experience before the game. 

 

And that’s not all! There will be a complimentary Priceless.com offer where all fans all over the world can get their hands on a customised Olympique Lyonnais Féminin jersey during the match.
